Menno’s journey into the realm of Jazz is an unorthodox one. As the eldest son of two classical pianists he showed a natural aptitude for the instrument at an early age, but he decided to opt for a career in music production when he noticed “there weren’t any good-looking girls around the local jazz scene at that time!”
Throughout the 1990’s, he wrote and produced records for several artists, enjoying moderate chart success. In 2002 he moved to Kenya where he worked as a composer and producer for the region’s premier AV-production company.
However, he always regretted not having completed his Jazz studies, so in 2007 he returned to the Netherlands to get reacquainted with the art. Nina Ebbenhout’s debut album “When we kiss” marks his first effort as a jazz musician/producer.
