Sebastiaan van Bavel (1992) grew up in a very musical family. Both his parents are pianists. So he started his musical education at a very early age. Already at the age of 12 he played at the North Sea Jazz Festival ( Gigs for Kids ). Two years later he was invited by bassplayer Hein van de Geyn to play a concert at the NSJF with trombone player Conrad Herwig. In 2006 Sebastiaan started his Trio together with Remi Troost (drums) and Maciej Domaradzki (double bass) .
In 2008 they won the Jazz Edition of the Prinses Christina Competition and in 2012 the played in the finals of the Dutch Jazz Competition.
They won First Prize in The Dordrecht Jazz Competition ( 2012 ).
Momentarely they are performing in different venues and festivals throughout The Netherlands.
In 2010 Sebastiaan played several solo jazzconcerts in Switzerland where he tried to fuse classical and jazz music. In 2011 he also won the Classical Edition of The Prinses Christina Competition resulting in several classical recitals not only in The Netherlands but also in America and Canada. Playing a program that not only contained Brahms and Mozart, but also original work of van Bavel.
After two years of studying with Bert van den Brink, the direction of his studies are now towards modern classical composition.
