Kenny Talkowski is a musician and teacher based in The Hague (NL) where he performs regularly with various musical formations including the Kenny Talkowski Band, Inedits and Blended Culture and teaches saxophone, clarinet and music theory. Kenny is mainly a saxophonist (alto, baritone, soprano and tenor) and doubles in clarinet, bass clarinet and flute. He also likes to experiment with the musical timbre provided by ethnic instruments such as bombo, erke and siku (South America) and bawu, hulusi and sheng (China).
He begun his music studies in Salta, Argentina, and continued in Madrid, Spain, graduating in 2002 with a degree in classical saxophone. In 2007 received his bachelor’s degree in jazz from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (NL) and in 2009 his Master’s degree in jazz from the Rotterdam Conservatory (NL). In 2010, thanks to grants from the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds and the Banff Centre, he attended the Banff International Workshop for Jazz and Improvised Music directed by Dave Douglas (Alberta, Canada).
Kenny has toured extensively in Europe -with the European Saxophone Ensemble and his signature project Jazzentinean- and China -with the Australian ensemble The Black Arm Band-. He has also performed in Canada -with the Jeff Torbert Quintet-, Argentina and at international festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival (2005, 2006 and 2007 under the conduction of John Ruocco and Frank Tiberi), Haarlem Jazz, Delft Jazz, Milan Festival and Gezziamocci.
Although being mainly a jazz musician, he likes to take part on other types of musical adventures such as contemporary music and world music ensembles or reggae, funky, latin and pop bands.
