Born and raised in The Hague – The Netherlands 1987, Tom was brought up in a musical family with his dad being an alto saxophone player. He received the first price with several major jazz competitions. One of them is the prestigious Prinses Christina Concours in 2006 and most recently the Sena Jazz Award 2016. After finishing The School of Young Talent in The Hague, he attended the Royal Conservatory where he studied with Toon Roos, Rolf Delfos and John Ruocco during his bachelor as well as his master studies. In his last semester, after receiving several scholarships, Tom went to New York to study with greats like Aaron Goldberg and Greg Hutchinson. Over the years Tom shared stages with names like: Greg Hutchinson, Peter Erskine, Peter Bernstein, Reuben Rogers, Slide Hampton, James Carter, Philip Harper, Peter Beets, John Ruocco to name a few and recorded as a sideman on the debut album of Floriaan Wempe featuring Willie Jones III.
He played on leading international venues like: The North Sea Jazz Festival, The Hague Jazz Festival, Bimhuis Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw aan ´t IJ, Life I Live Festival, A-Trane (Berlin), Badehaus jazzclub (Berlin), Casa Del Jazz (Rome), Warsaw Summer Jazz Festival, Smalls (New York) and many others.
Besides playing his horn, he is also active as an organiser of music events and has worked together with several international well known artists.
