Laurence Fish

Artist link:

Laurence Fish (1985) is a Netherlands based jazz pianist, originally from London, England. He has always been drawn to music and aware of its power to move and inspire people whenever there’s enough depth.

After a thankfully short-lived period of scraping at the violin, he began playing piano aged 8 and was classically trained until early adulthood when an obsession for jazz changed his focus. In 2008, after completing a Music and Psychology degree from Leeds University, and brief periods of working in London, India and Uganda, he moved to The Netherlands where he obtained both a bachelor and masters degree in Jazz Piano from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, graduating cum laude.

Although a jazz specialist, his experience in diverse musical styles and his versatility have lead him to perform in a wide variety of venues over Europe. As well as currently teaching Jazz Piano Harmony at The Hague Conservatory, he continues to play in different settings and with different ensembles.

His latest project is with the Laurence Fish Quintet, with whom he recorded his debut album, Sen’s Fortress, due for release May 14th, 2017
