When Mike LeDonne (1956) was 14 years old his father, who ran a music store and was a jazz guitarist, bought him his first Hammond organ.
Mike, who is a world class jazz pianist is also one of the top Hammond organists in the world.
His career spans over 35 years and is truly unique among jazz musicians today.
No one else from his generation has had the experience of playing with such a variety of jazz masters.
Mike worked with masters from the swing era like Benny Goodman and Roy Eldridge, then went on to work with the bebop masters like Sonny Rollins, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Farmer and Bobby Hutcherson, 11 years with Milt Jackson as pianist and musical director and with Benny Golson since 1997.
He won the Downbeat Rising Star Poll for Organ in 2012. Mike became so popular on the instrument that his organ fans didn´t know he was a pianist.
For 18 years Mike has played the Hammond B3 in Smoke, a famous jazz club in NYC, with his Groover Quartet, setting a standard as one of the most swingin jazz groups on the scene today.
