Guy Nikkels started playing guitar at the age of 10 and enrolled at the Deventer music school where his first teacher was Peter van Leeuwen. After playing different styles of music, such as blues, funk and rock, he started to get interested in jazz music. He took lessons from Hans Voogt in the prepatory class in Zwolle and after two years he decided to study at the royal conservatory in the Hague where he studied with Peter Nieuwerf, Eef Albers, Wim Bronnenberg and Martijn van Iterson. After finishing his bachelor in 2003 he continued with the masters program, witch he finished cum laude in 2005.
Guy Nikkels played or worked with a number of nationally and international acclaimed artists such as Kenny Werner, John Ruocco, Eef Albers, Henk Meutgeert and the Late great Michael Brecker.
